The Presentation of the book “Monasteries of Ancient Halych – Spiritual Safeguards of the Ukrainian Nation”

The book “Monasteries of Ancient Halych – Spiritual Safeguards of the Ukrainian Nation” by Professor Mykola Kuhutiak, the Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science, and International Relations, was presented at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. The event was attended by His Eminence Bishops, scholars, lecturers, staff, students, and postgraduates of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, the Institute of History of Ukraine at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as representatives of local authorities and self-government bodies.

This monographic publication explores the features of evangelization processes in the Halych Carpathian region, revealing issues related to the formation and development of the monastic tradition of ancient Halych-Krylos from the 12th to the 18th centuries. It delves into the spiritual and civilizational mission of monasticism and its role within the hierarchy of the Halych Cathedral, both episcopal and metropolitan. An attempt is made to investigate the monastic phenomenon of Krylos Mountain, as well as the rock monasteries and abbeys in the vicinity of ancient Halych. Notably, the book includes the publication of historical documents related to the history of monasticism in Halych-Krylos.
